Which are you - someone who needs to go cold turkey, or someone who finds more strength and empowerment in only rarely having sugary treats?
You may not even know the answer to this question at the moment.
If you find you do have some of what you are eliminating, are you able to just have a little? If so, does it negatively affect how you see yourself?
The main rule of thumb is how you feel when you eat some of what you are eliminating. If you find you feel empowered and in control, this is a sign that you may not need to eliminate it, but keep it to rare treat status.
