If weight loss jabs could speak, they’d say: Stop getting so excited about what we do…and start getting fascinated by what we are copying

Let me explain.

The medical name for these weight loss medications is GLP-1 agonists. In a nutshell, they mimic the action of a hormone – GLP-1 – that we all make in our bodies.

GLP-1 is released every time we eat. It keeps food in the stomach so you feel full and it lowers blood sugar.

The synthetic GLP-1 in the jabs acts like a massive dose of the hormone (hence the 50% rate of nausea in users. It’s like the body is saying Whoaaaa! Easy tiger).

This tsunami of synthetic GLP-1 is far too much for many people.

Those who’ve had suicidal thoughts.
Those who’ve had pancreatitis.
Those who feel lost without the perceived emotional benefits of eating processed junk.

So Why Get Excited About Weight Loss Medications?

Q: So why on earth should we be getting excited about it?

A: Because of the attention it has given to GLP-1.

Did you know that not only does the body make its own GLP-1, but there is a lot we can do to increase it?

I have been reading up on it a lot recently and have started to play around with increasing my own levels of natural GLP-1. It’s early days, but what I have observed so far is:

*I have shed almost 2kg (over 4lb) in a couple of weeks. Prior to this, I had been plateauing mostly, so i am pleased with this.

*You can up your GLP-1 through diet and behavioural changes, such as how you eat.

*I have noticed that it is easier to make healthy choices when I’m not really hungry. But I wouldn’t describe my appetite as being dialled down 24/7.

*It feels very natural, unlike how I imagine the meds feel (I couldn’t even take hormonal contraception, which made me feel mad as a box of frogs). I have found no downsides (which may not apply to everyone).

*What I like about DIYing my own GLP-1 levels is the control. Unlike Ozempic et al, say if I was doing a big cycle ride or sponsored swim I could leave things alone for a day in order to get as many nutrients and energy in me for that event.

How To Increase Your GLP-1 Levels Naturally

Ozempic and co aren’t going anywhere – and neither are their problems. But as you can see, there’s action you can take – safely.

I’m keen to hear from you if you’ve tried these medications and had problems with them. Check out this video to find out more.

I’d also love to talk to you if you’re interested in raising your own GLP-1 levels naturally. I may well offer a free group session for this. Interested? Send me an email to info (at) theshiftinside dot com with ‘Natural GLP-1’ in the subject line.
