The Rosa Parks Book Lesson
Dieting to deal with your body hatred is like Rosa Parks dealing with the problem of segregation by moving to the back of the bus and reading a book called "How To Give Up Your Seat To White Folks AND Feel Good About It"
If dieting = a diminished way to deal with an important problem in life, I wonder if you can use this Rosa Parks book metaphor to help distance yourself from other diminished ways of showing up in the world.
People pleasing to deal with feelings of I am not enough is like Rosa Parks dealing with the problem of segregation by moving to the back of the bus and reading a book called "How To Give Up Your Seat To White Folks AND Feel Good About It"
Another Thought....
Is food compulsion (or compulsion of any kind) a way to try to square the circle of tolerating what your powerful self cannot tolerate?
If that powerful you could talk, is s/he saying...
I cannot stand this situation. But for whatever reason (perceived fear, social pressure, lack of role models, etc) it feels dangerous to you to change it.
I know that you can hear me, and you are acknowledging that I am right. You are NOT alright with this diminished way of being.
It looks like the main tool you are using to show me you are not OK with this situation is to constantly escape yourself via compulsive eating.
The Solution
Prove to the fear centre in your head that it is safe to live a more powerful life.
You need to do it in small steps. consciously
