Eating Psychology Cafe Walks in Shropshire
A Cup Of Tea, A Chat About Empowered Eating, and A Leisurely Stroll In Nature
Interested in eating psychology, and fancy a bit of out-of-the-box thinking about eating, weight and how these topics are closely connected to your life? Now autumn is here, do you need a bit more motivation to exercise?
If so, then Cafe Walks are just what you need.
What Are Cafe Walks?
Each cafe walk starts in a cafe. They are hosted by me, Harriet Morris. I am a qualified eating psychology coach, and I will talk for about half an hour about something related to food – it may be on the link between stress and junk food, lifestyle tweaks to improve digestion or how to motivate yourself to eat better (I also welcome requests to cover specific topics).
Following this there will be another half an hour when you can ask me anything you like, or anything else related to eating psychology, or just chat about your own experiences with the others.
The second hour consists of a walk in nature. This will be gentle, and planned specifically to appeal to those who hate exercising! I am going to choose the cafes so that we can start walking directly – no car journeys necessary.
The topic of the first cafe walk will be:
Can You Have Your Cake And Eat It?
…on Wednesday 5th November, between 10 am and and 12 noon, meeting at a cafe in the centre of Shrewsbury.
For so many people, being offered a piece of cake or other confectionery releases an avalanche of cravings, anxiety and guilt. I will be explaining the simple science behind why, for millions of people, these negative feelings have a far bigger impact on their waistline than the calories in the cake. This is cutting edge information that I learnt in my training with The Institute For The Psychology of Eating that the diet industry do NOT want you to know.
As always, there will be a couple of practical takeaways from the cafe walk you can use to empower your relationship with food the moment you get home.
And please feel free to eat cake in the cafe! I am reliably informed that the food police will NOT be in attendance 😉
After this, there is an optional walk along the river between 11am and 12. There is no pressure to do the walk if that is not an option for you, but – barring any freak storms – I walk, whatever the weather. As that old Scandanavian saying goes, there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. Bring your boots and thermals!
What Does It Cost?
Cafe Walks cost £10 plus whatever you have in the cafe (everyone orders their own refreshments). Payment is to be made in advance, and when you book, you will receive details of the venue and walk

Will You Roll Cafe Walks Out Beyond Shrewsbury?
Yes – this is something I am planning. Any suggestions for venues and walks within Shropshire are warmly welcomed.
I Can’t Do A Wednesday Morning. Are There Other Times and Days Planned?
I can certainly offer different times and days, and if there is enough demand, the weekend. Please contact me if you wish to discuss this.
